Description
The Longest-Blooming Gardenia Available
August Beauty Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides ‘August Beauty’) is prized for its extended bloom season — producing waves of large, creamy-white, intensely fragrant double flowers from late spring all the way into fall. While most gardenias bloom for a few weeks, August Beauty keeps producing those legendary fragrant blooms for months.

Plant Care & Growing Guide
Light: Full sun to partial shade. Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal in hot Southern climates. 4–6 hours of sun minimum for good blooming.
Water: Consistent moisture is critical. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Gardenias drop buds when stressed by drought. Use filtered or rain water when possible.
Soil: Acidic, well-draining soil (pH 5.0–6.5). Amend with azalea mix or peat moss. Iron chlorosis (yellow leaves, green veins) signals alkaline soil.
Temperature & Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 7–10. More cold-sensitive than Frostproof Gardenia. Protect from freezing winds.
Seasonal Maintenance
Spring: First blooms appear. Feed every 2–4 weeks with acidic fertilizer. Maintain consistent moisture.
Summer: Blooming continues heavily — this is what sets August Beauty apart. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers.
Fall: Final flush of blooms, often into October. Reduce fertilizing. Apply acidic mulch.
Winter: Evergreen. No pruning — buds are set for next season. Protect from hard freezes with frost cloth if needed.
